If I was only allowed to take
one group of ornamental
plants to a desert island
I would probably take
these. You never tire of
their brilliant acid-green
flowers and bold, strong
shapes, they’re excellent for
arranging (if you pick with
gloves on and sear the stem
ends in boiling water) and
are the perfect foliage foil to
any flowery border. They are
an absolute essential group
of plants for my garden.
